In Simple Words: Aadhaar is your 12-digit unique identity number issued by UIDAI, and it is the foundation of every government service in Maharashtra. Every application on the Aaple Sarkar portal — income certificate, caste validity, domicile, EWS — automatically cross-checks your name, date of birth, and address against the live UIDAI database. A single spelling difference between your Aadhaar and your school leaving certificate will block your income certificate, which will then block your scholarship. Your mobile number must be linked to Aadhaar to receive OTPs for online services. Fix any Aadhaar error first, wait for it to reflect in the UIDAI database (7–10 days), and only then apply for other certificates.

Aadhaar is issued by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) and is mandatory for almost every Maharashtra government service — from Income Certificates to Scholarships to Caste Validity. A single error on Aadhaar can block multiple applications simultaneously.

Why Aadhaar Problems Affect All Your Certificates

Maharashtra’s Aaple Sarkar portal automatically cross-checks every application against your Aadhaar record. If anything does not match — name spelling, father’s name, date of birth, or address — the application is rejected immediately.

The most common cascading problem: a name spelled differently on Aadhaar versus school documents. This causes rejection on the income certificate, which then blocks the scholarship application. Fix Aadhaar first and everything else falls into place.

Before You Start — Check Your Aadhaar

Before applying for any certificate, verify your Aadhaar details at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in:

Common Questions

I need to fix both my name and date of birth on Aadhaar. Can I do both at the same time?
Yes — at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra you can request multiple corrections in one visit. Fill the correction form for both fields and submit together. You still pay ₹50 total, not per correction.
My Aadhaar mobile OTP is going to a number I no longer have. How do I update it?
You must visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra in person. Bring your Aadhaar card and the new mobile number you want to link. Biometric verification (fingerprint) confirms your identity — no documents needed.
Is e-Aadhaar (downloaded PDF) accepted everywhere the physical card is?
Yes — e-Aadhaar is legally equivalent to the physical card for all government applications, bank KYC, and Aaple Sarkar submissions. You do not need the physical laminated card.
How many times can I correct my name on Aadhaar?
Name can be corrected a maximum of 2 times in your lifetime across all Aadhaar corrections. Date of birth can be updated only once. Plan carefully before submitting a correction.
My Aadhaar shows my old village address. Does that affect my Income Certificate application?
Yes — Maharashtra's Aaple Sarkar portal matches your application address with your Aadhaar address. If they differ significantly, it can cause rejection. Update your Aadhaar address to your current residence before applying for any certificate.
How long does an Aadhaar name correction take?
Online corrections take 5–7 working days. Aadhaar Seva Kendra corrections are submitted the same day but take 5–10 working days to reflect in the UIDAI database.
