In Simple Words: Without a mobile number linked to Aadhaar, you cannot receive the OTP needed to log into Aaple Sarkar, download your Aadhaar, or do any online update. You cannot link a mobile number online — you must visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra in person. It takes about 10 minutes and costs ₹50.
Why This Matters for Maharashtra Applications
Every online service on Aaple Sarkar uses Aadhaar OTP verification to confirm your identity. If no mobile is linked, you cannot:
- Log into Aaple Sarkar to apply for certificates
- Download your e-Aadhaar online
- Do any Aadhaar update online
- Apply for scholarships on MahaEschol
Linking your mobile is the first thing to fix if you’re having trouble with any government application.
Important: This Cannot Be Done Online
For security reasons, UIDAI does not allow mobile number linking or changes through the website or app. You must physically visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
What You Need to Carry
- Your Aadhaar card (original or photocopy)
- The mobile number you want to link (make sure it is active and with you)
- No additional documents needed — biometric verification confirms your identity
Steps to Link Mobile Number
- Find your nearest centre at uidai.gov.in → Locate Enrolment & Update Centre
- Visit during working hours (Monday–Saturday, 9 AM–5 PM)
- Tell the operator: “I want to link/update mobile number in Aadhaar”
- Provide your Aadhaar number and the mobile number to be linked
- Give your fingerprint or iris scan for biometric verification
- Pay ₹50 fee
- Collect your Acknowledgement Slip with URN
Processing time: 48–72 hours (usually faster)
How to Check if Mobile is Successfully Linked
After 2–3 days:
- Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
- Enter your Aadhaar number and the mobile number you linked
- If an OTP is delivered to that number, the linking is successful
Or check via URN:
- Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in → Check Aadhaar Update Status
- Enter your URN — status should show “Updated”
Changing an Existing Linked Mobile Number
If your old mobile number is no longer active and you want to replace it with a new one — the process is the same. Visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra, give biometric verification, and provide the new number.
You cannot do this remotely or by calling any helpline.
