In Simple Words: Maharashtra scholarships through MahaDBT are paid directly to your bank account, but the application requires several specific documents — many of which take weeks to obtain. The biggest mistake students make is starting document collection only after the portal opens. Income certificates take 7–15 days, Caste Validity Certificates take 3–6 months. Start gathering documents in May–June, before the portal opens. This checklist covers SC, ST, OBC, NT, VJNT, SBC, minority, and EBC categories.

The exact documents depend on your category and course. Below is the complete checklist organised by category.

Common Questions

When does MahaDBT 2025–26 scholarship application close?
Applications for the academic year 2025–26 are open until 30 June 2026. The Re-apply provision for 2023–24 and 2024–25 is also available until 30 June 2026. After this, the portal usually opens again in late June 2026 for the 2026–27 academic year. Apply early to avoid last-minute server issues.
Do I really need the Caste Validity Certificate or is the Caste Certificate enough?
For Post-Matric Scholarships (SC, ST, OBC, NT, VJNT, SBC), the Caste Certificate is usually sufficient for first-year applications. For professional courses (engineering, medical, pharmacy, law), the Caste Validity Certificate is mandatory. Start the Caste Validity application early — it can take 3–6 months.
What is Aadhaar seeding and why is it mandatory?
Aadhaar seeding means linking your Aadhaar card to your bank account so that Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) payments can be made. Maharashtra scholarships are paid via DBT — without Aadhaar seeding, your scholarship money cannot be credited. Visit your bank or India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) to seed Aadhaar.
My family has more than 2 children. Can I still apply?
For OBC scholarships, only the first 2 boys of the same parents are eligible. There is no limit on girls. SC and ST scholarships do not have the 2-child rule. The Family Declaration Certificate (about two children) is mandatory for OBC, NT, VJNT, SBC applications.
Is 75% attendance really mandatory?
Yes. Minimum 75% attendance in the current academic year is a strict requirement for most Maharashtra scholarships. Colleges report attendance directly on MahaDBT during the verification stage. Falling below 75% in any semester can lead to scholarship withdrawal.
What if I have started a course but have a gap year?
Most Maharashtra scholarships do not allow a gap of 2 or more years during the course. A single-year gap is sometimes permitted with valid reason and affidavit. If you have a longer gap, your application may be rejected — check eligibility carefully before applying.
